School Council
At Westfield Nursery & Primary School we place a high level of importance on our pupils voice. Our school council meet 2 weekly to discuss issues which the children feel need addressed. At the beginning of the year all of the children take part in a school democracy week. Children put themselves forward and vote for a number of advertised roles:
- School Councillors
- Head Boy
- Head Girl
- Deputy Head Boy
- Deputy Head Girl
- Sports Leaders
- Lunchtime Leaders
- Buddy leaders
- Attendance leaders.
Following these appointments the children set out their roles and what they wanted the school council to achieve. They set the following criteria:
- To help the school and children
- Share ideas that we discuss with the class
- Help others when they need it
- Talk to teachers
- To set good examples by being positive role models
The children then 1/2 termly decide on school events which they would like to take place these include things like:
- Macmillan coffee morning
- Sponsored walk
- Halloween Disco
- Fruit trolley
- Attendance
- Christmas Fayre
- Summer Fayre
- Children in Need
